Presidents Message from the Moose ATV Club
As the year end rolls around in the quad world, I would like to take the time to personally thank all the Executive and Volunteers that have helped the Moose ATV Club out this year. The clubs endeavors have been large this past season, with the application (and receiving) of the $115,00.00 Job Opportunities Grant. This large project will be continuing into the early Winter with the Northland Trail Blazer Snowmobile Club finishing and adding to the work already completed. Charlie, Bill and Wayne have done a fantastic job out there as many of you noticed (and commented on) at this years Poker Run. Thanks to all those who participated.
I'm happy to let you all know that this year a donation of $3000.00 was made to the Child Development Center on behalf of the Members of the Moose Club. I know that it is a wonderful organization that does care about this community and helps many kids get the start they need for school.
Now, that all being said, here is my private "whine" regarding membership to the organization. This is meant in a very positive way, as I just want to get many of you thinking for next year.
Membership to your local club for the year costs less than what many spend on dinner and a movie for you and your spouse for one night. If you ride the trails and have noticed and appreciated the new bridges and the "soon to be installed" 200 plus signs going into the Stewart Lake area or the clean shape these trails are in, if you stop at one of the four day areas/rest stops for a fire and a break, if you unfold your quad map with your buddies or family and ask "where should we ride today?", PLEASE think about joining the club next year.
For the cost less than a dinner and a movie, you can help support those that dedicate their time and efforts to improve the sport so many of us enjoy. Many do not want to join a Club for reasons such as "I have no time" or "I don't like meetings" can still help out in a very important way by just becoming a member. You never need to attend a meeting, you never need to vote or head a project, you never need to receive the monthly newsletter (although we think its a good idea).
What your membership does is allow us to continue the improvements to riding areas, allows funding for meetings outside the areas where brainstorming and ideas are gathered and implemented both here and other areas of the Province, and allows the club to give back to the community. It allows the club to approach Government with larger numbers when it comes time to state our case as to why areas should not be closed, bulldozed or have a road/pipeline take over. This year many areas of Stewart Lake have been "changed" in one regard or another, and to let this continue would be a shame. We are truly blessed with the ability to ride so far so close to home, it would be a shame to lose it.
Thanks for reading this far, I hope to see you out there on the trails no matter what happens at the AGM Oct 13 2009 and again thank all those who helped out this year. Special thanks to our 4 local dealers who have all helped out numerous times this year as well with our endeavors.
Ride Safe and dress warm, Winter is here!
