Biography

I have lived in Duncan on Vancouver Island for most of my life, when I first got married in 1975, my wife and I moved to Victoria where we lived for a couple of years. Wanting a change of scenery we decided to move to Summerland, where we lived for six years and our son was born there.

In order to be closer to my parents we decided to move back to Vancouver Island, where my daughter was born in Duncan in 1983. I have worked most of my life in the automotive industry, in either a new car dealership or repair facilities; I currently own the Budget Brake & Muffler franchise in Duncan as well as the Arctic Cat dealership.

I started riding an ATV in 1997, when I purchased a Yamaha 250 from a friend of mine. Finding this to small for me I bought and sold four machines over the course of two years when I finally settled on a Arctic Cat 454. Since then the machines I have been riding have been getting bigger, and am now riding an Arctic Cat 700 EFI.

I attended the first meeting of ATV/BC in Green Lake in 2000 and have enjoyed all the events that have taken place around the province since then. Having seen the amount of work that others had volunteered to make our sport more enjoyable for all, I thought it would be a good idea to do the same, so three years ago I became a director of ATV/BC. As with any organization I feel the more one puts into it, the more enjoyment you will get out of it and so last year volunteered to be 1st Vice President and this year have volunteered to be President of ATV/BC.

I started the Cowichan Valley ATV Club in Duncan in 2001, with about 20 members. Today we have about 60 members. I am also a Canada Safety Council Instructor (ATV) and have put on many safety courses that help others become more involved in our sport in a safe and ecological manner. It is always very gratifying to see new people learning the safe and responsible way to enjoy their new ATV. I look forward to enjoying ATV outings with as many of you as possible and hope you enjoy the sport as much as I do

Ride responsibly, ride safely.
