My name Gordon Galloway. I am 68 years old, and been married for 46 years. I have lived in Elkford since we built town in 1971. I come from the West Kootenay, growing up in Fruitvale B.C. After a couple small jobs I was hired in 1961 at Cominco as an apprentice. After completing that I took another apprenticeship.

By then the company was looking for interested persons to go to Elkford and construct the Fording River Coal Mine. I come for a short time on construction and now made this my home. We retired in 2000 after 40 years and my wife retired after 28 years from the mine. I have one son who moved to Fort McMurry about 4 years ago.

I was a director on the British Columbia Snowmobile Federation for 18 years. While there I was Safety Director, Treasurer, Director at large, Secretary for 7 years and President for 2 years. I did not think I would get into another venture, but now on the Board of Directors for ATV/BC. I was 2nd VP the second year then went to the treasurers job for the last 4 years. Now trying to take a new task of Safety Director.

I bought my first quad in 2000 and attended every meeting and events since then. The last being the Trail Blazer Ride to the 2008 AGM in Revelstoke. I was a large part in forming our Elkford ATV Club starting with 22 members. Now I am helping our board build our club and as today we have 360 members.

In 2004 our club hosted the AGM and Jamboree and this is the first time a club has done this twice, but we are hosting again for the Jamboree and AGM for 2009. I ride a 650 Can Am Outlander Max Xt 2 up seat and my wife hasrode many of the 9700 km's that I now have on this quad.

The next move would be to try and get our members in Cranbrook, Sparwood, and Fernie to start their own clubs. We would lose members, but communication the way we are spread out makes things difficult. We notice that only about one half give us their E mail addresses. Cranbrook for example is 160 km's away.
