I have been involved with All Terrain Vehicles for about 20 years or so either with just using one for fun or with making one work with me on various jobs I have been on.
The sport is intriguing to me and is very much a part of my life. With many friends that have the same interests I am out in the wilderness enjoying what there is to see and do.
My election to the ATV board in 2007 opened my eyes even further as to what actually goes on behind the scenes. There are numerous concerns from maintaining our Right to Ride, Insurance, Land Issues, Environmental, Grants, and least of all, Safety.
With all of this and much more going on I find little time to ride and that makes me sad at times. I like to add my support to the sport and am willing to ride less if it means that my children and their children will continue to be able to ride freely in BC for many years to come.
Having worked my first year as Safety Director I enjoyed the role and had the opportunity to take a Safety Instructors Course. Since last September I have given 9 courses and have trained 42 ATV/BC members in the CSC method of ATV Riders Safety.
This year I have been given the onerous task of Communications Director. When Moira handed over the reigns of her well polished and oiled machine she said it was a time consuming and difficult director-ship. With that in mind a committee was struck and we 3 are attempting to keep up with all the work she did alone. I hope I can maintain the director -ship as well as she had done.
Now on the executive as 2nd Vice president I have even more to try to handle. I am also the president of the Vernon ATV Club (2 years) and the Commissioner of the Men's Ball Hockey League (23 years) in Greater Vernon. With Funtastic (western Canada's Largest Slo-pitch and music concert for 25 years) I sometimes am overwhelmed. O by the way I am also working as an Electrical Contractor for my living.
Recently widowed I am footloose and fancy free so I tease and flirt with all the ladies and truly enjoy the enjoyment of the games we all play in the role of life. I like to tell jokes and sometimes overstep the ethics of what I should or should not tell. For this I am sorry but no harm is ever meant by my actions. Life is too short to not have fun.
I am 57 going on 18 and loving it and the riding of Atv's is now what I hope will be a long and lasting sport that I can participate in for as long as I am able. Writing a Bio for oneself is actually a good way to see yourself as others do and you should try it just for your own enjoyment. Don't lose the topic just go with it and see what come up. That's what I did and it was a refreshing uplift to all the day-to-day humdrum.
